Open to any nationalities (priority is given to alumni of Halt Poverty's programs)

Serving on the board is a volunteer position without remuneration

Roles to be filled

Board Chair (or President): responsible for setting meeting agendas with the CEO, leading meetings, driving recruitment of new board members and committee membership, and finally evaluating CEO and board member performance

Vice Chair (or Vice President): serves as second-in-command to the board chair. It is quite common that the vice chair steps in to be the chair when the chair’s term is complete

Board Secretary: takes meeting minutes during official board meetings

Board Treasurer: leads the board’s financial responsibilities with an understanding of financial accounting for nonprofits

Board Member(s): expected to, at a minimum, attend all board meetings, fund-raise on behalf of the organization, and promote the mission of organization


Specific Expectations

. Honor our board governance model in overseeing the success of Halt Poverty

. Help shape the future of Halt Poverty by contributing to strategic direction and decision-making

. Support our financial well-being through budget monitoring and fundraising

. Fulfill individual fundraising and donation commitments

. Take an active interest in the progress and achievements of Halt Poverty programs

. Support Halt Poverty human capital by sharing expertise and network of resources

. Attend key outreach, donor cultivation, and fundraising events

Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications

. Skill sets of one or two of the following: communications, fundraising, web development, social media, legal expertise for nonprofits, education, young adult programming, nonprofit

. A commitment to understanding of Halt Poverty beneficiaries

. An affinity for cultivating relationships and facilitating, dialoguing, and building consensus among diverse individuals

. From diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds, gender identities, and disability statuses

. Current Board can re-apply. Yet, priority is given to Halt Poverty alumni (capacity building, small grants programs, etc.) and donors
